Video: Watch Miss Lauryn Hill Gives An Amazing Performance In Ghana

Over the weekend, Lauryn Hill performed a concert in Accra as part of the Afrobeats Big Festival. Ms. Hill had only performed in Africa twice before her first ever Ghanaian show — Ethiopia in 2005 and a concert at 2012’s Cape Town Jazz Festival that was unfortunately marred by sound issues (ed: as some commenters have noted, she’s also previously performed in Rwanda and Senegal).

We came across some fan footage from Lauryn Hill’s recent show in Ghana and, though the audio’s not the best throughout, it’s pretty clear this one was a booming affair. Watch a 6-minute fan recap of Lauryn Hill’s Accra concert, which features her live renditions of Fugees classics “Ready Or Not” and “Killing Me Softly,” as well as Miseducation staples like “Everything Is Everything.” Watch the footage below via Swit Salone.

Video: Rick Ross raps with Nigerian Artists P-Square - Beautiful Onyinye (Review)

So here is the new video by P-Square featuring Rick Ross. We were going to blog this earlier in the day, then watched the video and thought, no we won't, then later we decided maybe we would but with an editors perspective. The final decision was mix of the fact we do love to support anything that takes African culture further but then to what extent.

By this, the issue is, Do we need more videos of men in Yachts with women walking around with champagne bottles and foreign designer wear? This is not what gave P-Square their international status, in fact the artist that protray this, real of false, are hardly even selling records. It is so early 90s, boring and played out. With the exception of the good music playing, the video was not entycing. in some way it actually felt worst than seeing this from the constructed hip hop culture, because here you are listening to the natural afro beats whilst seeing something that is so foreign.

most of those abroad have seen this a million times, the question is would this grab their interest, or would it have grabbed their interest more if being introduced to something new. In most of these cases the artists have very little say in the directing of the videos and are mainly musicians as far as the art goes. We wish P-Square all the best but if not them, we hope other emerging African musicians do not go down the long winded path of bringing foreign culture home, when instead should be taking African culture abroad such as the likes of Angelique Kidjo and more. Enjoy the video below. Also more good news, they are now signed onto Akon's record label Konvict music, another West African whom we are also proud of. Overall, great song with beautiful content.

Nigerian Footballer Kidnapped, 150,000 euros Ransom for Christian Obodo

Family of Italian team Christian Obodo confirmed he was kidnapped today in Warri, southern Nigeria by unknown gunmen on his way to visit a friend.

Obodo was for several years a Nigeria international. Last season, he played on loan at Lecce from Serie A side Udinese. Lecce were relegated to Serie AB on May 13 after finishing third from bottom of Italy's top flight.

Obodo's brother, Kenneth Obodo, who is also a footballer in Italy and is currently in Nigeria, was quoted by Italian news agency ANSA as saying: "Christian is fine. We are in touch with the kidnappers, who want some money.

"We can't give them more than 100,000 euros ($125,000). Unfortunately these things happen in our country."

His brother-in-law, Obidike Okechukwu, was quoted by ANSA as saying that the kidnappers had asked for a ransom of 150,000 euros.

On behalf of the Miss West Africa team, we hope these cockroaches don't taint the name of the ever growing, business and tourist orientated country of Nigeria that has developed in all aspects of economic growth. Justice will be served may they receive their money or not. We wish the best for Christian Obodo.

New Video: Sarkodie Azonto Fiesta!! Azonto Non Stop

English:
Remember the days when all the hottest dances in the urban scene were coming from USA? The butterfly, the buggle, and more? Yes I know that's going way to far. More recently the harlem shake, the crip walk and so on? Then it shifted to the Caribean with pun da river, and signal the plane. Somewhere in between I think there was an indian dance somewhere but not big. Well anyways now, it's coming from Africa, and the most interesting thing is it doesn't seem like it will be leaving anytime soon considering African's are everywhere. Azonto which we proudly blogged about here before it even went national in Ghana, has been a hit dance and music genre for quite a while, and with African culture and music now the mainstream sound of the urban scene around the world it seems it's not going anywhere neither. Check out Sarkodie's new video Azonto Fiesta.

CT.COM claim that the judges score contributed to a percentage of the scores and so did the public vote, of which Leda Knowlden took the lead in. They have critisized the judges for assuming their scores were 100% of the total votes. The situation has now gone so far that even the Liberian Government through the Information Ministry has disclosed in Monrovia that a committee of competent experts will be constituted to review, investigate and advise on resolving the controversy surrounding the 2011/2012 winner of the Miss Liberia beauty pageant.

Embarrassing, Popular Ghanaian Rapper Shows Penis On TV

Beware, nudity!
Attention, la nudité!
Cuidado, a nudez!

English
A well known Ghanaian rapper by the name of Wunluv the Kubolo, who has made Ghana very proud in terms of taking hip hop forward in Africa, just subtracted all the respect by showing his penis on TV in an interview where the lady was questioning his dress style. This is embarrassing not just to Ghana, but to the hip hop genre in Africa.

These days when celebrities act stupidly, we can not say if this will further or limit their careers, and in most cases we have no idea if they do it for this purpose. Never the less it is an international shame. And also a big shame to the whole crew and staff and channel for letting this episode air on TV. Good luck to your show and requesting artists to show their penis. This is Africa, let's show we can be more responsible at least when it comes to entertainment.

On a positive note, we will like to compliment Ghanaian artists in and outside of Ghana for maintaining their culture. Last year we blogged about a new dance called Azonto before it was even known outside of the country. Today, Azonto is one of the most popular dance not just in Africa but internationally. All artists, musicians, and DJs that support this movement, well done, and keep supporting it until we see it in the history books.

Azonto Dance Video in UK: MISTA SILVA Ft Skob, Flava & Kwamz
